Hello viewers of ‘You’re Beautiful’. This is Jang Geun Suk, currently taking on the role of Hwang Taekyung in ‘You’re Beautiful’. I actually planned to write something here before the series began but because of filming and my tight schedule…

I was really late this time ^^

It has already been a month since ‘You’re Beautiful’ started airing. We don’t have many finished scenes; we just shoot right before the episode goes on air. Therefore, both the actors and the staff are feeling the strain. Maybe it’s because we’ve got great teamwork on the set of’ You’re Beautiful’ or maybe it’s cause of the young actors, but this has to the most fun and enjoyable drama I’ve ever filmed.
I suppose most of you know this but we finally hit the 2 figure mark last week (for viewership ratings). Although there might be people who doubt that we could do well since we’re a group of really young actors, or people who might be more interested in other dramas that are currently airing, there are now more people who will go ‘Ah~’ when the drama’s title is mentioned and more people who remember this drama. We might not have the resources and support to make this drama a magnificent one, but through our passion and great teamwork, we, the actors and the staffs are working hard to show everyone that this is a good drama. And the lovely words and interest that everyone has shown us has been a great source of strength to us.

Truthfully, as the leader of AN Jell, I feel sorry to my dongsaengs. We wanted to show this drama to more people but the viewership ratings were lower than we expected. I started to wonder if it was because I didn’t manage to bring across the Hwang Taekyung character well or if it’s because of Jang Geun Suk that people cannot accept this drama….many such thoughts crossed my mind..

(Cause I’m an A blood type, you know) (T/N: Type As are known to be perfectionists)

But I don’t think that way now. I won’t dwell on just viewership ratings. Looking at the other younger actors striving so hard to embrace their characters makes me realize that I should be the one learning from them. I’ve thought of giving up because it was too tough. I didn’t expect it to be so satisfying leading this group of inexperienced young actors holding their scripts, joking on set and researching how to express a particular scene. ^^

This week’s episodes will be the half point mark for this drama. Recently, not just me but also all my co-workers have just been shooting continuously.

We’ll do our best all the way to the very end. Till then, please give us your love and opinions ^^

really, i can’t be more agree with all the fans of YAB around the world, this series is criminally underrated. seriously.

there’s nothing more to say, because everyone who has been watched it know, this is absolutely the drama that we have waited for so long, for it’s qualified writers, casts, crews, soundtrack… every single pieces of this drama is just so beautiful…

please, cheer up, jang geun seok oppa, and all the people behind this drama, we appreciate you and your hard work all this time. don’t let the ratings makes you down… because we’re here to support you, and eagerly waiting for every single episode…

tak perlu diduga-duga, saya memang sedang tergila-gila oleh pemuda ini, hehe. tadinya sih bertanya-tanya, siapa sih orang ini, saya kok belum pernah tahu. ternyata dia begitu sering berseliweran, cuma saya-nya aja yang gak sadar.

ada gosip yang menyebutkan dia pernah operasi hidung (maybe that’s why i felt so unfamiliar with thus guy), tapi belum tahu juga bener gaknya. atau mungkin saya gak mengenalinya karena image-nya begiru berbeda, 2006, hwang jin yi–dia berperan sebagai seorang remaja polos yang masih baru saja mengenal wanita, lalu, lama saya tak mengikuti perkembangannya, tadaa, 2009, you’re beautiful–dia muncul sebagai vokalis grup band yang rada emo dengan mata di-eyeliner dan senyum sinisnya yang mak jleb.

i don’t know, apa ini gara-gara aktingnya yang emang oke, atau make up artist-nya yang jago, atau apa. yang jelas..

sekarang dia lagi main di drama yang lagi heboh banget, you’re beautiful, barengan park shin hye, lee hong ki, dan jung yong hwa. lucunya, belum lama ini jang geun seok terlibat dalam sebuah iklan etude house barengan park shin hye juga,

cute banget kan? lebih kocak lagi setelah mereka di you’re beautiful karakternya jadi begini

gyaha.

untunglah di episode 5 para kru-nya cukup bijaksana untuk mengembalikan ketampanannya!

asiiiiik… jadi gak sabar nunggu hari kamis… (sebenernya, drama ini tayangnya tiap rabu-kamis malam di korea, tapi berhubung internet saya lemot luar biasa, sangat gak memungkinkan untuk nonton streaming maupun mendownload dengan kilat. jadilah saya menontonnya kamis-jumat siang, hehe…)

apparently, My Fair Lady was turned out to be dissapointing. I couldn’t even help myself NOT to continue the series after 11eps. so when i found a good recap about this one, i’m totally on it.
sebenernya sih, waktu pertama denger tentang drama ini, sama sekali gak tertarik untuk nonton.
serius deh, posternya aja so exaggerating,

katanya sih, stoyline-nya mirip j-dorama, hana kimi. gak tau juga bener apa enggak, baru mau nonton(hana kimi) sih.
anyway, let’s back to the subject.
judulnya,미남이시네요 (Minam Isineyo a.k.a. You’re Beautiful or You’re Handsome) ceritanya berkisar tentang Go Mi Nyeo, seorang (calon) suster yang crossdressed jadi seorang anggota band rock, A.N.JELL (haha, namanya kayak posternya, noraaak!), demi gantiin sodara-cowok-kembarnya (Go Mi Nam) yang lagi ada halangan (salah operasi plastik–huahaha).

wait, crossdressing? doesn’t it sound familiar? coffee prince? yoon eun hye?
ya dan enggak.
ya, memang ada acara samar-samaran pake ‘perban’ di bawah kaos. tapi gak ada acara ‘am i gay?’-nya han gyul di sini. perlu dicatat, serial ini baru tayang DUA episode dan DUA tokoh utama prianya udah tau kalo tokoh utama wanitanya nyamar. dan ini juga (katanya) beda dari hana kimi. kalo di hana kimi si cowok-yang-udah-tau itu lantas menyembunyikan identitas si cewek, di sini, si tokoh utama cowok bahkan langsung meng-confront si cewek, right after he found out the truth. memang sih, jadi agak mengkhawatirkan. apa masih bakal ada cukup cerita buat dilanjutin sampai 16-20 episode? tapi di sisi lain, justru melegakan karena kita terlepas dari jebakan cerita klise di mana klimaks cerita adalah ketika tokoh utama pria tahu semuanya dan lalu ngambek dan lalu menyadari apakah-aku-bisa-hidup-tanpa-dia dan lalu–tada–mereka jadian, happy ending. buat yang udah biasa nonton k-dramas, ini jadi semacam fresh-twist, ‘let us keep wondering what would happen next!’, dan nonton k-drama gak lagi sekedar eye candy, tapi bener-bener dramatis.
maksudku, bukannya aku mau bilang kalau ini adalah drama yang menye-menye. in fact, setiap beberapa menit ada aja adegan yang bikin kita ngekek, atau bahkan perut sakit nahan ketawa (kalo nontonnya di warnet).
selain itu, another nice sets! setelah coffee prince yang setting tempatnya bikin ngiler (desainnya lucu-lucuuuuu!!!), kayaknya yang ini bakalan serupa juga. liat aja interior dan eksterior mansion mereka.. asik bangeet!!!

(plus, those are my favorite color composition, yay! if only i could have that kind of sets–with those boys inside for the bonus, heheh).
as for the casts, nicely fitted, menurutku. paas banget.

(left to right) ada jung yong hwa as kang shin wu, park shin hye (stairway to heaven, goong s) as go mi nam/go mi nyeo, jang geun seok (belum pernah nonton dramanya dia) as hwang tae kyung, dan lee hong ki (personil f.t.island) as jeremy. (btw, ada yang nangkep gak, kayaknya ini foto mlesetin madonna of the rocks deh… hehe, mantan pembaca da vinci code nih…).
anyway, let’s just hope it won’t ended badly like my fair lady. keliatannya sih enggak. kalaupun storyline-nya payah, asalkan cukup banyak ngekeknya, kayaknya sih aku masih bisa tahan. hopefully.

hello there, have you watched this drama?

oookaaaay, it’s been a looong-loooong time ago since the last time I’d wrote any post here. and it seems like I almost forgot that I have a blog here.

did i? to be honest, I’m not agree. actually, I’ve been sneaking time here and there to get myself write. but alas, in fact, there’s no time at all left for me even just for have a proper sleep (lebaaaaaaiiii!!!).

no, I’m not being hyperbolic or what. yes, it’s true that we’ve just had a holiday for a month, about a few weeks ago. but for myself, I would never agree to admit that as a holiday. twenty-four hours, thirty day (if not more) time of work. ggaaaaahhhhh!!!!!! I would never do it again (except if it offers more salary, perhaps I’ll consider it ;p). and after that, just when the new year had started, all the new lecturer seemed to join a games called “how much more task could you fed through your student”. seriously, it’s a really deadly games (especially for us, the students, the objects).

anyway, since I (almost) have some more quality time to relax now, I try to find out what’s going on outside there (note: that “twenty-four hours, thirty day (if not more) time of work” included the “isolated from free time even just to watch news on tv” in it).

it’s so amazing how the world has changed so much in such a short time while I was not paying attention. some singer-actress has divorce with her musician-husband. and so on… and so on…

and also, I find a new drama that aired in south korea right now, called 아가씨를 부탁해. literally means ‘take care of the young lady’ but officially introduced as ‘my fair lady’.

I was so interested with this drama, because, 1). yoon eun hye is in it and 2). I thought it would be interesting to watch her plays another new character, the really different one if not the real opposite of her last character from her last drama, ‘the first shop of coffee prince’. I personally adore her character in coffee prince. she’s just so fit for it, that I had thought that eun chan is really her (okay, hyperbolic), or at least she has some ‘eun chan’-ism on her.

in my fair lady, she plays as kang hye na (or kang hae na, whichever), a chaebol, heir of the big kang san group. she is, for short, like you can call her as the girl version of gu jun pyo on boys before flowers. glamor, arrogant and harsh outside, but so fragile inside.

I won’t write the storyline here because I would have a difficulty in keeping my writing focus on topic. moreover, there are some other people who has more talent to do something like that out there, like someone here. or just watch online here, if you’re curious about this drama so much.

what I want to do now is commenting. so many people outside there criticize the actors and the actresses, how they’re not fit with the character, how bad the acting, how weird their hair do, etc. I personally think they could handle their role pretty well.

and yoon eun hye is ok. nothing’s wrong with her, especially with her hair. in fact, I have that hairstyle on my head right now (minus the red color). perhaps, people just expecting too much on her, or they simply still have eun chan’s portrayal on her. perhaps, she just needs some adjustment. let’s give her some credits, folks, she’s been working so hard for that. you can’t deny that she’s progressing on the recent episodes, can you?

about the story itself, it’s just me or anyone notice that it resemblances a taiwan drama, ‘corner with love’? the characteristics, the relationship, even the first-meeting-scene of the two main characters is similar. well, of course not so similar like, say, hana yori dango and boys before flowers, which is indeed intentional. I just say that they do have some similarity, but not exactly same. speaking of which, would the end of the story be similar too? I don’t know, but I kinda have a vision about how the story would end (like everybody else doesn’t).

tomoko ninomiya kena carpal tunnel syndrome… means that nodame cantabile movie production will be held… gyaboo…
bukannya gak prihatin sama tomoko ninomiya. apalagi buat penulis/komikus, kena sakit di pergelangan tangan pasti menderita banget. buat yang belum tahu, carpal tunnel syndrome atau sindrom terowongan karpal adalah penyakit yang menyerang tulang di bagian pergelangan tangan (tulang pergelangan tangan kan namanya tulang karpal–ingat pelajaran smp ^^). penyakit ini “…disebabkan adanya pembengkakan saraf yang melewati terowongan karpal di pergelangan tangan.” seperti dikutip dari sini.
well, kalo gitu, para fans nodame, mari kita doakan semoga tomoko ninomiya segera sembuh, supaya bisa kembali menulis, menggambar, dan menyelesaikan nodame cantabile movie yang sudah kita nanti-nantikan!!
